Course types

When the Course is created, Superadmin needs to choose the Course type. Course type describes the methodology used in the Course which is closely connected with how it handles the Content Slides. This setting can’t be changed later. There are three types of Courses in Gele:

  • Standard course
  • 1-2-3 Course
  • Communication Course
Standard course

This is the most universal and flexible type of Course. It starts with creating Content Slides and putting them in the right order/structure. The structure is flexible and allows to create Chapters, Subchapters etc…

Standard type is also open for all types of social interaction. The Course Administrator can mix all possible options according to the needs.

1-2-3 Course

It’s a turnkey methodology that was tested to work well in situations when there are no Coaches available. It’s a combination of individual course with a Friend option and some special types of slides. The content of the Course is based on the video and is divided into Days (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3…). Every Day has three Slides:

  1. Watch
  2. Apply
  3. Share

Watch contains a video which is the main content of a Day. Slide can also play an optional audio file to complement the experience. Below the video there is a “Comment” section where all Students enrolled in the course can share their comment. This is the only place in Gele where Students from different Course Groups can read each other’s comments.

Apply is a Slide that is to help Students to better understand the video. It can have up to four questions that should lead Students to think about practical implications of the watched content. Answers to those questions are visible just to the student (default) or can be also emailed to Friend (option).

Share is an invitation to write a short summary of the day and share that with a Friend. Adding a Friend is optional (for Student) but we’ve noticed that it increases the Course completion ratio.

As this is the complete methodology there are some limitations as far as Course structure. Course Administrators can add “Days” which have a fixed structure of Watch, Apply and Share slides. Some configuration options allow you to limit access to “Days” based on the calendar and share “Apply” answers with Friend.

Communication Course

This is a Course type created as a place for conversation. There are no Content Slides, no time limitation, just a place to talk with Coach or a Group.

The most common use of that Course type is to serve Students with no particular agenda, but rather answer to their questions. It could also be used for “mentoring” types of courses where the assigned Coach uses this place as a channel of communication with the Student.
